Stevie’s Favourite Sliders Recipe (for dogs)

Stevie is our much loved (Heather and Hugh) Australian Shepherd.

Stevie is nearly three years old and loves to spend time with us on our boat and at the beach. He also loves his food and a number of clients have asked us what we feed him. So we thought we would share one of Stevie’s favourites with you, Doggie Sliders!

What you need:

  • 500g to 700g of lean meat – we use a leg of lamb or kangaroo
  • 50g of chicken or beef liver
  • 50 to 100g of broccoli in florets
  • 1/2 a red capsicum roughly chopped
  • handful of spinach
  • 1/2 a medium carrot diced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp kelp powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 sardines
  • 2 tsp hempseed oil
  • 2 tsp coconut oil

We first buy a leg of lamb, around 1kg with the bone in. Debone the meat (Stevie gets the bone as a special treat). Dice the remaining meat into cubes and chop into smaller pieces using the food processor. Add the vegetables into the food processor and coarsely chop. Finally add the liver, egg, sardines, both oils, kelp powder, ginger and again use the processor to mix .

Once this is done you can divide the blend into serve sizes to suite your needs. These are able to be placed in the freezer and defrosted for later use.

Bone Appétit !
